About Ozan
Ozan completed his undergraduate podiatry degree at the Queensland University of Technology in 1994 and his Master of Podiatry at Curtin University in 2004. He has worked in private practice in Canberra and Sydney for more than 30 years.
He completed his surgical training with the Australasian College of Podiatric Surgeons in 2012, followed by further surgical training overseas. In the United Kingdom, he completed a preceptorship in the Orthopaedic Department of the Great Western Hospital, Swindon, focusing on forefoot surgery and surgery for the high-risk diabetic foot. In the United States, he spent three months training at the Podiatry Institute in Atlanta, Georgia, where he concentrated on rearfoot reconstructive surgery.
His surgical practice focuses on reconstructive surgery of the foot and ankle. This includes bunion correction, severe and rigid hammer toe deformities, complex forefoot reconstruction and rearfoot deformity such as flat feet. Every procedure is planned around the patient’s imaging, how their foot functions and what they need to get back to.
Ozan has taught podiatric surgery as a sessional lecturer at Western Sydney University and Central Queensland University. He has presented as a guest speaker at numerous symposiums and conferences, and contributes to the NSW podiatry community through workshops and continuing education.
Ozan explains common foot conditions and the surgical options for them on his YouTube channel. You’ll find what’s involved in reconstructive procedures and what recovery looks like. Visit Dr Ozan Amir on YouTube.
